BORN WILD is an account of how, as a young man,
Tony Fitzjohn dedicated his life firstly to the lions,
and later leopards, of Kora with George Adamson,
then to establishing Mkomazi, in Tanzania,
bordering the Kenyan Tsavo National Park. 

It took almost 20 years before Mkomazi,
developed from raw wilderness,
became a recognized National Park.

Tony, with his wife Lucy, now commutes between Mkomazi and Kora re-establishing what George Adamson first started.  Once unwelcome in Kenya, the authorities have now asked Tony back to undertake a task that only one as dedicated and passionate about wildlife could possibly hope to achieve. 

Tony has managed to downplay the many obstacles put in the way of protecting wildlife, whilst at the same time giving due recognition and admiration to those who have fought and worked alongside him in this life-long struggle. 

Not only does BORN WILD give you a greater insight into lions, and many other animals, it also gives an un-embellished account of the hardships of living so far from anyone and anything, the dedication of men such as George and his brother Terence Adamson, and the respect and love that can be generated between men and men, animals and men. 

Tony obviously was wanting to leave the trappings of city life behind and return to Kora, but had time for one more question – “Why did you not write this book earlier?” 

“Because I loved the ‘Old Man’, and the pain of loosing him was too much – and so many others cashed in at that time.  I wasn’t ready to share him with others.”
